Brainstorming Halloween costumes
Kevin, Heather, John, and I will be meeting up with 2 of Kevin’s friends in New Orleans for Halloween. I have been trying to brainstorm Halloween costumes. The last two years, I have attempted to make some sort of costume and would like to continue that. I have one main obstacle in my way and that is I don’t know how to sew.
- Two years ago, Rhonda and I did a very last minute costume switch to be the Mad Men characters Peggy and Joan. By very last minute, I mean we had other costumes and then about 20 minutes before leaving to go out, we decided to dig in our closets and try and find something that would resemble the characters. We did pin Rhon’s bangs up to look like Peggy’s season one bangs but they had fallen by the time we took this picture.
- Last year, Rhonda and I were contestants on Supermarket Sweep. I rather enjoyed this costume because it was pretty cheap and easy to make (sweatshirts were like $5 from walmart, we wore khakis and tennis shoes, yellow polo shirts underneath, and then got one sheet of felt for the numbers on the front. We bought iron-on letters for the back and spelled out “Supermarket Sweep”
I really enjoy funny or clever costumes. I need to really think of costumes for Kevin and I that are easy to make and can be transported easily in a 9 hour car ride to New Orleans. I suggested we could be Jessi Slaughter and her dad - but he shot that one down. Also, thought about being a triceratops - but I would have no idea where to begin on a costume. Anyone got any ideas that might at least inspire me?
